Along with a group of ex- colleagues from Languagelab, I was co-writing a chapter on teaching in virtual worlds for IGI global. Last week we heard it had cleared the final hurdle to publication having received the thumbs up from its reviewers. So I am happy to confirm that Task Design for Language Learning in an Embodied Environment by Sweeney et al will be appearing in Teaching through Multi-User Virtual Environments: Applying Dynamic Elements to the Modern Classroom some time in 2010.

Living proof that distance is no more an obstacle for 3D collaboration than it is for learning, the team is slightly disembodied – several hundred miles is the closest any of us are to anyone else.  So Daf, Cristina, Suzanne, Doug, Chris and Pete – here is to us all (virtually of course). Wonder if we get invited for the launch?
